Bleeding in Pregnancy Is Not Always a Miscarriage

Bleeding in pregnancy can be very disturbing; many mothers automatically assume that they are having a miscarriage. Sometimes that is not always the case. Bleeding can happen for a number of different reasons, not all of them will result in a termination of your pregnancy. This article covers some reasons that bleeding may occur, and it will not result in having a miscarriage.
When you conceive you may actually have something called implantation bleeding. This is very bad because when a woman bleeds when the embryo is implanted into the wall of the uterus, she will usually think that it’s her period, and that she is not pregnant. Of course, when that happens, you won’t be looking after yourself as you should when you are pregnant.
A threatened miscarriage, this is when you have not been taking things easy, and your body is reacting by showing you to slow down and take a break. The results of the scan will show that the fetus is still in your womb- but if you undergo any heavy physical activity, you may go on to have a miscarriage. It can happen if you are not taking in enough fluids, or if you have a urine infection. Sometimes it happens if you are very stressed out, have had rough sex or if your baby is developing abnormally. This is the most common form of bleeding in pregnancy. There are drugs that can be prescribed to you to help to prevent a miscarriage from happening. Although sometimes the health care providers will advise against this if it is though that you are carrying a damaged fetus.
A post-coital bleed, this medical terminology is used to refer to vaginal bleeding after having sex. You may get tearing to the walls of the vagina, or quite simply your body’s reaction to having your partner’s seamen inside you can cause this complication. Don’t forget if you have been taking contraception for a long time and are now not because of your pregnancy, your body will have all types of hormones flowing through and this can confuse your system.
Of course, any bleeding is a worry, and you really cannot do anything other than to act quickly and take yourself directly to the emergency room or call your midwife if you are alone. It is very important that you seek medical attention. The sooner you do this, the sooner you will feel relaxed because you will know the outcome of the bleeding, and also you will be in the hands of a professional who knows how to deal with what you are experiencing. The key thing to remember is not to worry.
