Know Diabetes Symptoms to Curb Illness
Indians surely know how to celebrate and what better way to feel elated then enjoying good food laden with ghee and sugar. This might be one of the main reasons of growing number of Indian diabetic patients across the globe. Also known as a silent killer, if not adequately controlled diabetes can impact the kidneys, eyes and can cause gangrene which may require amputating the body part. There are generally three different types of diabetes: Type I, Type II and gestational diabetes usually seen in pregnant ladies.
Type I diabetes are caused because of lack of insulin production in the body due to damaging of insulin producing cells whereas in Type II diabetes our body becomes resistant to the insulin that is being produced. In both the cases the body cells are not able to get sufficient glucose which makes the person feel tired and fatigued all the time. You can control your diabetes if you recognize its symptoms in the nascent stage and make suitable lifestyle modifications to control the blood sugar levels. Your body gives following signals to help you recognize diabetes symptoms:
• If you had been visiting your loo much too frequently recently it is an alarming signal. Excess urination shows that there is presence of excess glucose in blood which may be because of the absence of insulin or may be because insulin production is rendered ineffective. This reduces the filtering capabilities of kidneys which try to draw more water from your blood to thin the glucose, making your bladder full always and requiring you to urinate frequently.
• The above factor also leads to unquenchable thirst as your body feels constantly dehydrated due to regular visits to bathroom. Hence you need more water to replace the fluid loss from your body. This is second major diabetes symptoms.
• If you had been loosing weight without trying much then it may not be a thing to be happy as it is one of the most noticeable diabetic symptom seen in patients suffering from Type I diabetes. Due to lack of insulin production by pancreatic cells, for energy body starts breaking down fat and muscle tissues. So if you notice significant change in your weight get your sugar level tested immediately.
The other common diabetic symptoms include numbness or tingling sensation in hands, feet and legs, extreme fatigue even without being involved in any strenuous activities, blurred vision, dry and itchy skin and frequent infections and wounds that may require more time to heal. Get your sugar checked once you notice these symptoms and protect yourself from diabetes.
